Wanting to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!!
Presants are opened, and dinner in the oven! :-)
Spent some time with the girls and Hornet this morning while they ate their grain! It's so cold! A new hay bale is needed - hopefully we can get that in tomorrow!
Bellies are getting big, expectations are high!
With a two day break from work, it's back to the nitty gritty for me tomorrow!
Before I know it it'll be two full time jobs, one I get paid a pay check 2 X a month for and the other through work and sweat we'll have lots of milk and great 4 legged company!
We plan on freshening 7 does from March all the way through until May or June! 5 Saanens and 2 Nigerians!
What am I to do with nearly 7 gallons of milk or more a day?
We are planning on expanding not only the goat herd a little in the spring (adding another Saanen buck, at least two Boer does and whatever kids we retain), but also adding hogs - so that our milk that isn't used isn't wasted!
I know my sister and I are going to have to find a rythem of getting all the chores done, because soon our vacation is over and the real work begins!
Clipping, Milking, feeding and work is all going to be a little rocky until we get a routine devised! Wishing I had the money for a new milk machine, but knowing I can't afford it sucks! Hopefully the small food vacume pump machine my grandmother bought holds up too the challenge this year! We'll be adding more lids and more pumps to withstand the number of milkers and the different sizes of milkers we will have!
This Christmas has been hard yet exciting too! Robin, Brad and I have gotten a chance to spend the holiday with a Cousin we hadn't seen in several years! It's hard because we know that our mom and dad will leave with no knowing when they'll be back..
Through it all we all manage!
Merry Christmas from our Farm to your's!!!
